We focus on cross-talk between light acclimation and disease resistance in plants. More specifically, we aim to decipher how Protein Phosphatase 2A (PP2A) controls metabolism and signaling to determine appropriate pathogenesis responses in photosynthetically active leaf tissues. To achieve this, we utilize proteomic approaches, advanced microscopy and the genetic toolboxes available for the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana. When successful, this will uncover molecular mechanisms that execute defensive measures, and open new prospects for elucidating cross-tolerance and breeding of stress-resistant plants.
